SEO for builders in Melbourne's west
SEO for builders in Wyndham, Hobsons Bay, Brimbank, Maribyrnong, and Melton. The listing should say you are a builder, the class of work you are registered for, and nothing wider.

SEO for builders is the work that helps a building company show up when people nearby search for the projects they want built. The map results are the usual prize. They come from a Google Business Profile, so SEO for tradies and the Google Business Profile page sit above this one. WestReach looks after one listing a month for builders in Melbourne's west. The price is fixed. Ads and a new website are not in it.
How building searches split
Building searches are rarely urgent. They split by project instead. One caller is pricing a home extension. Another wants a bathroom renovation, a deck and pergola, a granny flat, or a knockdown rebuild. A third is earlier still: they are looking for a builder who works in their suburb at all, and they are reading reviews to build a shortlist.
Those callers compare for weeks or months. They look at photos of finished work, at whether the builder names the suburbs they live in, and at whether the business looks registered and real. A listing written for a leaking tap will not serve them, and a builder does not need it to. The listing has to describe projects accurately, because the first call sets expectations for a contract worth far more than a call-out fee.
Searches we will use only when they match work you do:
- builder near me
- home extension builder
- renovation builder
- bathroom renovation builder
- deck and pergola builder
- granny flat builder
- knockdown rebuild builder
- custom home builder
If you only renovate and never take on new builds, new builds come off the list, including in Point Cook and Williams Landing. Do not treat the largest project type as the default for a new suburb.

Categories, without invented names
Google's category help says to choose a specific category from the dropdown, that you cannot create your own, and that the categories you select affect local ranking. It also says to add only a few extra categories, not one per product.
What we do: open your listing, type the trade, and choose the most specific row that completes "this business is a builder". The name to look for is General contractor, and if your dropdown offers a more specific builder row that truly describes the business, we can discuss it with the list open in front of us. We will not type in a label of our own.
Extensions, bathrooms and decks are services under the category, not extra categories. A builder who also runs a separate carpentry crew has a business-structure question, not a category problem; the listing should describe the business customers are actually contracting with. Too many unrelated categories blur the business. A renovator who does not build new homes should not wear a new-home label because the word is searched.
Services, area, photos, hours
Each service is its own item, in customer words: home extensions, renovations, bathroom renovations, decks and pergolas, granny flats, new builds where they are genuinely offered. The service area is the western suburbs you build in, hidden home address if there is no office or yard. We never place a virtual office in Werribee or Tarneit to borrow their name.
Photos: your sites and your finished rooms. A framed extension before plaster, the same room finished. Before shots are fine when they are yours and the client agreed. No display-home photography from a volume builder presented as your work. No customer's house number in the frame.
Hours and a phone that is answered. The website link matches the site. If the site shows a building practitioner registration number, it must be a number this business holds. WestReach will not invent one and is not a registered builder. A new website is not inside A$349 a month plus GST.

Trust and reviews
A building contract is the biggest purchase most homeowners ever sign. They cannot judge a frame from the street, so they judge the record: real photos across several jobs, reviews that name the project type, and a business that answers its reviews like it answers its clients.
Send a review link after handover, and after defects are closed out rather than before. We reply to up to eight a month within two business days. You approve a reply to a negative review. No incentive. No fake stars.
Posts
Up to four a month, approved first. An extension at lock-up stage, with permission and no address. A completed bathroom. A note on booking lead times, only if you told us the real wait. The suburbs where the current jobs are. Nothing that implies a completion date, a warranty period or an insurance position we were not told in writing.
What to avoid
A name like "Best Builder Werribee Cheap". Bought reviews. A fake address. A promise of first place. A long contract. A service list that includes project types you are not registered for or do not take on.

The registration line, and only that
Victorian customers ask about registration because, for most building work, it is the law and not a marketing extra. Consumer Affairs Victoria's checklist states that you must be registered with the Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC) in Victoria to perform domestic building work where the cost, including labour and materials, exceeds $10,000, and for work such as re-blocking, demolition or anything requiring a permit, regardless of cost. Registration applies to individuals, not companies, so where a company does the work, a director must be registered. Source: Becoming a registered building practitioner, Consumer Affairs Victoria.
The rule we will apply is narrow. If a registration number or class is shown, you supplied it and it belongs to this business, in the class the work falls under. A Domestic Builder (Limited) registration does not cover unlimited work, and the listing will not describe it as though it does. If you do not want the number on the listing, it stays off. We will not copy one from a competitor's website to make the profile "look complete". Marketing and registration are different jobs.
What we will not put on a builder's listing
A copied registration number. A "registered and insured" line when you have not shown us the details you want printed. A count of homes built. A "start next month" promise your schedule does not support. Project photos from jobs you quoted but did not build. A service area of every suburb in the west because you could physically drive there. Reach and willingness are different. If you turn down Melton, Melton stays off the area, even though the Melton page exists for people who do go.
Photos should be jobs you built. A van or ute photo uses your real signwriting. If the signwriting is only a first name, that is the name on the profile too, not "first name builders" plus a suburb.
The free check for a builder looks at whether the project list matches the registration class, whether the category is the trade or a generic handyman label, and whether the phone on the website is the phone on the listing. Bring the business name and the suburb you are based in. Book a free listing check.
On-page and off-page
On the page, and on the listing, the work is the category, the services, the service area, the hours, the description, and photos of your own jobs. The website should use the same name, phone, and project list. That is the on-page half.
Off the page, the work is replies to reviews and directory details that match. We do not buy links. The monthly report is one page: calls, website clicks, and direction requests from Google. An empty export stays empty. It is not a rank tracker and not a count of contracts won.
Jobs people type
Customers type the project, not the word SEO. Examples we will use only when you do the work: home extension builder, bathroom renovation, deck builder, granny flat builder, and knockdown rebuild. These are examples of wording, not search volumes. Volumes were not checked, so this page does not quote one. Leave off any project you do not want enquiries for.
What the monthly report includes
Three counts from Google: calls, website clicks, and direction requests. A sentence if a count is zero. No position, no competitor, no forecast. The price beside that page is A$399 setup and A$349 a month plus GST, one listing. Wider retainers publish other figures on the pricing page. There is no separate builder rate.
Pricing for builder SEO services
A$399 setup plus GST, then A$349 a month plus GST, for one building business and one listing. Month to month, with no lock-in contracts. Ads, a new website, and extra listings are not included. See pricing.
SEO for builders in Melbourne's west
The five councils are Wyndham, Hobsons Bay, Brimbank, Maribyrnong, and Melton. In-person meetings are Tarneit and Truganina. Suburb pages for the places a builder may work: Tarneit, Truganina, Werribee, Point Cook, Hoppers Crossing, Wyndham Vale, Williams Landing, Altona, Sunshine, Footscray, and Melton. Name a suburb on the listing only if you build there. Do not add it to the business name to catch the search. The suburb pages describe the places. Your listing describes the business. Local SEO Melbourne is the map of that split.
Where
Across the five councils, including Werribee, Point Cook, Hoppers Crossing, Truganina, Altona, Sunshine, Footscray, and Melton. Also carpenter SEO and concreter SEO if you want the neighbouring trades. Meetings in person: Tarneit and Truganina. The west map is local SEO Melbourne.
A realistic result is gradual: more matching searches, more taps, reviews that accumulate because you asked at handover. No promised position. No promised contract count. Faults we fix: a project list wider than the registration class, missing services, a fantasy service area, a logo with no finished-work photos, dead reviews, a phone that does not match the website.
You need to give us manager access or let us create the profile in your name, the project list, the suburbs, the hours, and real photos. Then you approve posts and harsh replies. Book a free listing check.
The west builds in two directions at once. In Tarneit, Truganina and Wyndham Vale the work is new homes and first extensions on young houses. In Sunshine, Footscray and Altona it is renovations of older stock, where the search is often "builder for a rear extension" typed by someone who has already spoken to an architect. Neither pattern changes what the listing should say. It changes which services lead. Put the project types you actually contract for first, and let the suburb pages describe the places.
"Builder Tarneit" is a suburb search. It is answered by the service area and the suburb page together, not by renaming the business. If you manage builds but do not carry out the work yourself, the registration class on the profile should say so; customers checking the BPC register will find the class that is actually held, and the listing should match it before they look, not after.
Questions
Does SEO work for builders?
People research a builder on a phone and a laptop for weeks, and the map and the website are where the shortlist forms. A complete, active listing is how you qualify for those results. It is not a promise you will be first.
How do builders get more local enquiries online?
Category, services, service area, your photos of finished work, replies. Then a website that lists the same projects and suburbs. The listing comes first.
Should I list every project type I have ever done?
No. List the work you contract for now, in the class you are registered in. A service you no longer take on earns calls you will decline.
What Google category should a builder use?
Look for General contractor in the dropdown and use it when it is there. Add another category only if that exact name is offered and it describes the business.
Can you show my registration number?
Only the number and class you supply, in the description or on your site. We never invent one, and we never present a limited registration as an unlimited one.
What does it cost?
A$399 setup and A$349 a month plus GST, one listing, month to month, with no lock-in contracts.
Do you guarantee first place?
No. The guarantee is the work on the pricing page.
